Loganathan 'Logie' Naidoo was born in Tongaat, in the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal and is married with 2 children, a daughter Priyanka, 12 years old and a son Prenushlin, who is 10 years old. He is married to Jeevanthri, who is a Social Worker.
He matriculated at Tongaat High School in 1974 and studied Computer Operations at PC Training. He started his career in 1975 as a Computer Operator/Stock Controller for Mercedes Benz and in 1982 joined La Mercy Beach Hotel as an Accounts Clerk/Accountant/Group Accountant, climbing up the ladder to the position of Group Director in 1993 in the Durban Region.
He served as Executive Chairperson of the North Local Council from 1996 to 2000. Logie is presently an Executive Committee Councillor and Speaker of the eThekwini Municipality. As Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of the Economic Development potfolio, he was involved with Point Waterfront Development Board, including uShaka Marine World, Harbor Expansion Programme, Moses Mabhida Stadium’s 70 000 seater project, upgrade of the CBD’s and Town Centre called the iTrump, development of the new International Airport, International Convention Centre (ICC), etc.
Naidoo said his new job would involve “Overseeing all the council committees and councillors as well as ensuring that the adhere to their code of conduct.
“I am very excited about my new job and looking forward to contributing to the success of the City. As a collective, we can do wonders for our City, which is led by a very good team, with James Nxumalo as the Captain” he said.
